Cambridge IGCSE Economics 0455

Online Tutoring

Two papers, but 70% of the marks sit in one - a structured paper where evaluation, diagrams and applied data-response decide the grade. We tutor 0455 to how it is actually marked, not just the content.

How we teach Cambridge IGCSE Economics at Tuition Highway

A simple four-step approach designed to build confidence, close gaps and improve exam performance.

01

Confirm the route

We confirm the syllabus code, exam series and paper route for 0455. Everything else depends on this.

02

Find the gaps

A diagnostic against the syllabus topics tells us what's secure and what isn't, so we teach the gaps rather than the whole book.

03

Teach weekly, one to one

The same tutor teaches each week around school. Concepts build step by step, with the school's pace kept in view.

04

Practise like the exam

Past-paper questions begin early, followed by full timed papers marked against the published mark scheme.

Matched with a tutor who knows this syllabus

Expert, vetted Cambridge IGCSE Economics tutors who have taught the 0455 specification. Past-paper work is reviewed against published mark schemes, so your child can see where marks are awarded and where they are being lost. UK-qualified teachers are available on request as a premium option.

Reviews work against the mark scheme

Your child learns where the marks actually are, not where they feel they should be.

Consistent across the term

The same tutor every week - and if that changes, we tell you first.

The 0455 papers your child actually sits

Cambridge IGCSE Economics is assessed by two externally-marked papers. Paper 1 is multiple choice; Paper 2 is a structured paper worth 70% of the grade, and it is the only place evaluation (AO3) is tested.

Questions parents ask about Cambridge IGCSE Economics

Which papers does my child sit for Cambridge IGCSE Economics?+

Two: Paper 1 (multiple choice, 30%) and Paper 2 (structured questions, 70%). Both are externally marked and taken at the end of the course.

Why does Paper 2 matter so much?+

It carries 70% of the grade and is the only paper that tests evaluation (AO3). A strong Paper 2 - data-response plus essay-style questions - is what separates the top grades.

How is it graded?+

Cambridge IGCSE Economics is graded A* to G, with A* the highest.

When are the exams?+

In the June and November series, with an additional March series in India.

Can my child use a calculator?+

Yes, in both papers. Some questions include calculations, for example elasticity and revenue.

Do you cover diagrams and data-response technique?+

Yes - both are where able students lose marks. We drill accurate, labelled diagrams and answering directly from the source material.

What if the tutor isn't the right fit?+

We replace them - free, and with no argument - and hand over the syllabus progress and known concerns so the new tutor continues seamlessly.

Can you help us choose between Cambridge and Edexcel Economics?+

Yes. The content overlaps heavily; the difference is assessment shape and grading (A*-G vs 9-1). The free assessment maps which suits your child and their school.
