Biology marks slip for a small number of fixable reasons

Biology has the largest content volume of the three sciences and the most deceptive difficulty. Students revise more here than anywhere else and are often the most surprised by the result.

reason icon 1

Knowing it and writing it are different

Biology answers are marked on precise terminology and complete reasoning chains. A student who understands a process and describes it loosely gets a fraction of the marks available.

Volume without a system

There is more to hold in biology than in physics or chemistry. Students who revise by re-reading feel productive and retain little; the fix is a method, not more hours.

reason icon 3

Application questions on unfamiliar organisms

Papers describe a species or experiment the student has never met and ask them to apply principles. Content knowledge alone does not carry this.

reason icon 4

The maths and statistics

Magnification, surface area to volume, percentage change, statistical tests. Consistently underestimated, and consistently a source of dropped marks.

How Tuition Highway works

You don’t sort through profiles or chase a tutor. We run the match and stay accountable for it.

our tutors icon 1

We match, not you

We assess curriculum, subject, level, weak areas and schedule first — then match one tutor built around that.

our tutors icon 2

The same tutor, weekly

Continuity, not a rotating pool. Your child works with one tutor who knows exactly where they are.

our tutors icon 3

Progress reported to you

You get regular updates on what was covered and what’s next — no wondering what happens in the session.

Not right? We replace them

If the fit isn’t working, we rematch at no extra cost. The match is our responsibility, not your family’s.

Reassurance built into every step

If the first lesson doesn’t feel like the right fit, we match another expert tutor at no extra cost.

Questions parents ask

My child revises harder for biology than anything else and gets the lowest grade. Why?+

Almost always because the revision method suits content recall and the paper is testing application and precision. More hours will not fix a method problem, and that is usually good news.

Which boards and curricula do you cover?+

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, AQA GCSE, A-Level, IB MYP and Diploma, American high school and AP, and CBSE.

Is biology the easy science?+

It has the lowest entry barrier and the highest content volume, which is why students often start confident and finish frustrated. It rewards precision more than the other two.

Do you help with coursework or internal assessments?+

We coach, question and give feedback — never write or edit submitted work.

Can you support medicine applicants?+

Yes. Tell us the target course and country on the call so the tutor plans for the subject and the admissions requirement together.
