Economics Cambridge A‑level Economics 9708 Tuition

Cambridge A-level

Four papers spanning multiple choice, data-response and essays - where analysis and evaluation, not recall, decide the grade. We tutor the exact 9708 combination your child is entered for, AS and A-level.

How we teach Cambridge A‑level Economics at Tuition Highway

A simple four-step approach designed to build confidence, close gaps and improve exam performance.

01

Confirm the route

We confirm the syllabus code, exam series and paper route for 9708. Everything else depends on this.

02

Find the gaps

A diagnostic against the syllabus topics tells us what's secure and what isn't, so we teach the gaps rather than the whole book.

03

Teach weekly, one to one

The same tutor teaches each week around school. Concepts build step by step, with the school's pace kept in view.

04

Practise like the exam

Past-paper questions begin early, followed by full timed papers marked against the published mark scheme.

Matched with a tutor who knows this syllabus

Expert, vetted Cambridge A-level Economics tutors who have taught the 9708 specification. Past-paper work is reviewed against published mark schemes, so your child can see where marks are awarded and where they are being lost. UK-qualified teachers are available on request as a premium option.

Consistent across the term

The same tutor every week - and if that changes, we tell you first.

The 9708 papers your child actually sits

Cambridge A-level Economics is assessed across four externally-marked papers. AS Level uses Papers 1 and 2; the full A-level adds Papers 3 and 4, with AS content assumed knowledge throughout.

Questions parents ask about Cambridge A‑level Economics

Which papers does my child sit for Cambridge A-level Economics?+

Four: Paper 1 (AS MCQ), Paper 2 (AS data-response and essays), Paper 3 (A-level MCQ) and Paper 4 (A-level data-response and essays). AS Level uses Papers 1 and 2 only.

Is Cambridge A-level Economics modular like Edexcel?+

No. The A-level papers are normally sat together, and there is no banking of individual papers across sessions the way Edexcel's International A-level allows - though AS can be certificated first and carried forward.

How is it graded?+

A* to E at A-level, and a to e at AS Level.

When are the exams?+

June and November series, with an additional March series in India.

Can my child use a calculator?+

Yes, in all papers. Note that formulae are not printed in the papers, so key formulae must be learned.

Do you cover essay and evaluation technique?+

Yes - the essays and data-response are marked on levels, and evaluation (AO3) is where the top grades are won. We drill developed argument and supported judgement.

What if the tutor isn't the right fit?+

We replace them - free, and with no argument - and hand over the syllabus progress and known concerns so the new tutor continues seamlessly.

Can you help us choose between Cambridge and Edexcel Economics?+

Yes. The economics overlaps heavily; the difference is structure - Cambridge's papers-together model versus Edexcel's bankable, resittable units. The free assessment maps which suits your child.
